YAY Walker Ford

Just got back from picking up my car - $500 poorer but with no more hole in the bumper....and they washed my car (a little surprised by that, but shouldn't I expect it for all the money I paid?). Now to get mom's car fixed.....sheesh.

I'm Baaaaack

Wow, what a weekend! First of all KEITH URBAN IS SOOOOOO HOT!

Ok - now that that's out of the way - he plays guitar pretty good too. The show was AWESOME, Mom and I really had a good time. That is of course, until we left. Whilst explaining to BF how hot cool Keith Urban was and watching a druken idiot trying to get out of traffic (while dragging a cone under his car), I became distracted and smashed her car into the truck in front of us. YAY for me! I just got my bumper fixed from an accident I got in last June, then I had to go and smash her's in too.

Well we only hit him at about 5mph so no one was hurt, but her bumper really took a bruising (a lot worse than my car was). The hood is all crumpled up, the drivers side headlight is pushed down, all the glass is missing from the blinker on the same side, and the grill is ripped out from the hood (I'll try and get some pics to post later). Thank GOD the insurance said we didn't need a police report cause I don't need another ticket. Still getting the one from the last accident off my record (FL is a no fault state - so even though the guy I hit in my car slammed on his brakes in front of me, I still got a ticket).

So what does BF do? He takes off at midnight (this is what time it was when all this happened) and drives down to get me. When he gets to my house, proceeds to load up my stuff and then drive straight back. We didn't get to his house till 5am! Slept until 11 though. Party was EXCELLENT; a little hungover the next day but we did get to go to the gunrange so that was okay with me. Killed some more paper with the 9mm I keep at my house so I am assured if someone tries to kill me, I'll get them first. BF had a fun time with the .22, .45, and AK47, then we went home and took a nap. All in all an okay weekend - except for the car smashing part - sorry Mom!

Neener Neener Neener

So I'm off - mom won us Keith Urban tix for tonight (she's on the sales floor at the same company I work for and they're always passing out concert tickets). Anyways - I'm going and you're not! So sorry ;) Then heading up to Gainesville saturday morning so posting will resume on Monday.

BTW - called the body shop today - the parts came in and they should have my car ready on Monday - YAY!

Idol last night? Picked two out of four. I really, honestly, can't understand what kept Jose in but that's just me. The two they sent home weren't that great either so I guess they'll get to him (PLEASE??).

HELP! I'm an MP3 Moron!

LOL - So I've been hinting that I want an MP3 player for my birthday to anyone and everyone who will listen. Now I just need to figure out which one to get. I have a problem though - I know absolutely nothing about MP3 players. There has got to be some one out there that can help me. I have a seperate hard drive on my computer for all my music - approx. 5000 songs - which is 347 hours of music people. HOLY COW! This takes up about 18.38 GB. Now this may sound really stupid - but are the GB they say are on the MP3 hard drive the same as a computer hard drive? In other words - if I get a 40GB player I should have enough room to double my music collection? I think I found the one I want here, but it doesn't look like it's available everywhere. I went on creative's website and didn't find any 40GB. I WILL NOT ask someone to spend tons of money on an IPOD when I can use something like this and for what I want it will be fine.

Help Please!

BTW - Do you like my self portrait?

YAY! I'm not stupid!

So I got a B on the stats test. What really blows me away is had I spent some time looking at it before I turned it in, I could have gotten an A; I made some really dumb mistakes. Also got a B on my AIS test; funny part? They were within one point of each other grade wise. How weird is that?

In other news.......The body shop called yesterday. Seems they got the bumper apart and found more damage than what was in the original estimate. Since it's an insurance claim - that doesn't mean anything moneywise (for me anyway) but it does mean an additional 3-4 days wait since they now have to order more parts and they can only get them directly from Ford. AAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGG!!!! Fortunately for me, my mother is nice enough to let me take her car to Gainesville this weekend.

Thought for the day......

American Idol Guys

Ok - sorry guys, the girls blew you away last night :(

My Faves:

DEFINITELY Chris Daughtry - he sooooo rocks and I think he is better than Bo last season.

Elliot Yamin - not the best looking dude in the world, but he can sing and he's pretty good too.

Ace Young - SO FINE - you can do underwear ads for me anytime baby....um....oh yeah and the singing was pretty good too - but why oh why did you have to choose George Michael?

Taylor Hicks - LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this guy. The singing was not his best but Simon hit it on the head when he said it shows that he really loves music. I think that's why I like him so much.

So - my picks to go home - Bobby Bennett and Jose Penala (I don't care what they said about Jose - the falsetto SUCKED).

Tune in tomorrow to find out if I'm right......

Oh YAY! A meme! ***Updated

Tag I'm it....I've been tagged by MathCogIdiocy with the lastest meme circling the blogosphere. YAY for me......here goes:

1: Black and White or Color; how do you prefer your movies?

Well, I haven't really seen any black and whites - the few I have seen are all those corny old monster movies; which I don't enjoy. So I'll have to say color.

2: What is the one single subject that bores you to near-death?

Probably anything science related.

3: MP3s, CDs, Tapes or Records: what is your favorite medium for prerecorded music?

I'm going to have to go with CD's since I don't have an MP3 player (hint hint to family; my birthday is coming up.....)

4: You are handed one first class trip plane ticket to anywhere in the world and ten million dollars cash. All of this is yours provided that you leave and not tell anyone where you are going ... ever. This includes family, friends, everyone. Would you take the money and ticket and run?

Sorry, no. I can't leave my family and the few friends I have.

5: Seriously, what do you consider the world's most pressing issue now?

6: How would you rectify the world's most pressing issue?

Hmmmmmm.....how bout kill 'em all?

7: You are given the chance to go back and change one thing in your life; what would that be?

Not something I would share....but yes I would change it.

8: You are given the chance to go back and change one event in world history, what would that be?

Messing with my own history is ok - but I don't think I could make that choice for others.

9: A night at the opera, or a night at the Grand Ole' Opry --Which do you choose?

That's a tuff one....I'd have to say the Grand Ole' Opry though cause I just hate getting all dressed up.

10: What is the one great unsolved crime of all time you'd like to solve?

I'm going to have to go with who really killed JFK.

11: One famous author can come to dinner with you. Who would that be, and what would you serve for the meal?

Gotta take a page out of T1G's book and say Stephen King. As far as what to serve for a meal - anything that's not messy so I don't make a fool out of myself.

12: You discover that John Lennon was right, that there is no hell below us, and above us there is only sky -- what's the first immoral thing you might do to celebrate this fact?

I probably wouldn't do anything immoral cause I couldn't live with myself.

Ok, so now that that's over with, I'm going to tag:

Tammi of Tammi's World - cause she's my favoritest aunt......

Ktreva of Reality Ranch - cause I don't think she's been tagged yet.....

Contagion of Miasmatic Review - cause he hates memes......

and last but certainly not least Oddybobo, cause she sounds like fun and I want to see what she says....

muwaahahaaaaaa - have fun all........

****apparently I have not been up to date on my blog reading cause it seems that Tammi, Contagion, and Oddybobo have already been tagged :( Have to pay more attention next time.

Them Girls Can BLOW!

American Idol girls night - Paris Bennett - Blew.Me.Away. This girl is FABULOUS. She can sing, she has the stage presence, and she just looks like a natural up there. Katharine McPhee - ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL. Not trying to be racist, but I have NEVER heard a white girl with so much soul in her voice. Love, love, love her. Those two are definitely my favorites. Liked Mandisa and Lisa Tucker too, but Paris and Katharine definitely stole the show.

My picks to go home first - Kellie Pickler, Stevie Scott - sorry girls, ya just didn't do it for me.

Can't wait to see the guys tomorrow - really looking forward to Taylor Hicks and Chris Daughtry.

Geez...A Whole Flippin Week?

I dropped my car off at the body shop of my local Ford dealership this morning......they say it won't be ready till the end of the week and do I need a rental. Well yeah, I would like a rental since it takes you a whole flippin' week to replace a bumper but my stupid insurance doesn't cover it (which is funny to me since I carry full coverage cause I'm still paying on the car). At least I live close enough to work to walk back and forth if I have to - Geez this really sucks!

Not Into Politics

Though I should be. This is probably one of the only times you'll see something like this on this site, but since it's been such a big ticket news item, I had to share this.

Seriously though - I only post cause I find the whole situation and all the uproar surrounding it funny as hell....please do not read anything more into it than that.

A missed opportunity

for drunken blogging occurred this weekend. Seriously - Saturday night was a good time had by all. Met some more of BF's friends - they are all great people - I think that's why I like it up there so much. I'm sure they know how cool I think they are too since I must have told everyone there they were cool about a hundred times that night ;P Now more sure then ever that I'll be relocating when my lease is up.....

In other news - get to drop my car off at the body shop tomorrow to finally get my bumper fixed since some moron slammed on their brakes in front of me several months ago......YAY for tax money.

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to my Beloved - well actually it's Saturday - but since he doesn't have internet at his house (Boo Hiss) where I will be this weekend partying my butt off - I have to post this today. Hope ya'll don't mind...... Here's your presents!

Oh, Yeah - and lots of beer.........(not to be used in conjunction with your other presents unless you let me drive....;P

Happy Birthday - I hope your day is wonderful, and I hope you enjoy your real present, which unfortunately is not as great as these but none the less from my heart.

Can You Say STUPID????

In reading my local news today, I come across this article.

Twenty minutes after Bob Heeman parked his company's
petroleum service
van at his house and went inside Wednesday afternoon, the
vehicle exploded, St.
Petersburg fire officials said.

Then it exploded again and again and

Ok, if I'm this guys neighbor, I'm doing two things right now:

 1. I'm trying to make sure my vehicle doesn't catch fire too
 2. I'm wondering what the HELL was in that van

Feinberg said the van belonged to Techniflow Inc., a St. Petersburg
company that works on service station pumps. Inside were two 55-gallon drums, two calibration tanks, aerosol cans and a bucket of soaked gasoline rags. Any of them could have been set ablaze, though investigators hadn't figured out what might have sparked it.

I'm also wondering why in the hell this guy would bring this van home with all of this stuff in it and think it was safe to park in his driveway for crying out loud. What a MORON.

I made it!

Ok - the test is done......it was exactly as he said it would be (whew). Now if only I understood the material as well as I thought I did. Still no grades posted from the test I took Monday in my other class, but I'm fairly confident I did well on that one.

This just may end up being one of those semesters where I get 100% of my tuition back from my work......YAY!!!

Evidence of Global Warming.....?

I'm going to give myself an ulcer.....

Tonight is the first test in the class I mentioned here. I think I may jump out of my skin before I actually get there tonight - I am just not sure what to expect. I studied everything he said was going to be on the test (which is only 3-4 questions.....WTF?!) so hopefully I'll do okay. On the other hand, since it's only a few questions, that means he better assign partial credit. If you get one question wrong you pretty much fail.

He also told us that last semester he let anyone who was happy with their grade opt out of the final and ended up having only 7 people show up to take it. That means a) a bunch of people did really well and I shouldn't worry so much, or b) his test's were so hard they were afraid they'd slip even further down totem pole and decided to be happy with what they had.

In other news - looks like ex is late paying the mortgage again ()**&&^*&^%^$^^&^ ..... so I guess I'll have to call and threaten him with the attorney AGAIN. Damn I can't wait until March. Supposedly he will be able to assume the loan then and my name will be off of it.....YAY (we'll see). Then maybe I can finally move on with my life. At this point, it just feels like I have this huge boulder sitting on my shoulders and I can't do anything about it!

I swear all this stress is really starting to get to me - I'm surprised I don't have an ulcer yet.....

Monday, February 13, 2006

Yippee, Valentine's Day will be here tomorrow (note this sentence is dripping with sarcasm). But why, you say? I have a BF so I should be happy about that right? Not really. To me Valentine's Day has most always been disappointing. Sure I've gotten candy/flowers/stuffed animals a few times but it always seems so.......forced. It's not a special day if you have to remind someone that they better buy you flowers or else. This year was actually kind of funny though - here's an excerpt from a conversation with BF earlier:

BF "you know what - the other day when we stopped at CVS, I was supposed to get wrapping paper and I didn't"

ME "what the hell for?"

BF "so I could wrap your present"

ME (visibly and audibly excited now - I love presents!!) You got me a present? What for?

BF "for valentine's day DUH"

ME "Oh - so you're going to make me wait until next weekend now cause you forgot to get wrapping paper?!? (LOL - we like to tease each other)

BF "No, you can have it tomorrow"

ME "So how the hell are you going to give it to me tomorrow, are you going to drive all the way down here just to give me a present (remember, he lives in Gainesville and I am in Clearwater - approx 150 miles)

BF "No - I hid it in your house"

Ok pause here - he actually hid it in my house??!!! How the HELL did he do that without me noticing? AND - Is it just me, or is that the coolest?

So anyway, he proceeds to tease me about where he possibly hid it, cause he knows I am going to look now until I find it. He tells me to look under the sink the the bathroom (WTF?), in the stove (again, WTF?) and several other stupid places and then tells me to look under "his" side of the bed. Yea right - I just looked all these other places you told me and it wasn't there, like I'm going to keep going. So where was it - under the bed.

He got me a radar detector....Not the most romantic gift in the world - but hey - I don't wear a lot of jewelry and it was something I've been wanting so it works for me :)

Disturbed Weekend

I think I mentioned somewhere that BF and I had tickets to see Disturbed this weekend. It was Saturday night at Jannus Landing. I don't know if anyone has been there before or not, but it's an outdoor venue. So Saturday afternoon, it starts to rain - yippee! It says right on the tix "rain or shine." So I'm starting to get worried, cause there's a cold front coming through and it's raining. Well it stopped so that was okay until it was time to leave.

The show was supposed to start at 7, so we left at 6. Get on the Interstate, and guess what??? It's raining again....YAY. By the time we get there, it's just sprinkling. So we park the car and walk the block and a half to the concert (this is a pretty small venue in downtown St. Petersburg) to get in line to get in. At this point, it's stopped raining again (remember, this is Florida - our weather is fickle). So we're standing there, and standing there, and standing there......7 comes and goes and we're still standing there. In the meantime, it's started raining again (a little harder this time) so we're soaked and pretty cold. Finally, about 7:30 they start letting us in.

YAY - head to the bar, get a rum and coke, go get a T Shirt, and find a spot to stand (no seats just a big open space) T shirt does a suprisingly good job of warming me up since I'm still a bit wet from the rain. So this freak guy who thinks he's a lizard (you had to see this guy, all tattooed, tongue forked and everything) comes out to announce the bands. First up - Temple of Brutality. Local band - they were pretty good, but got some boo's from the crowd when he said he was a Bush hater....

Lizard man comes out again, and proceeds to do parlor tricks for us. (Did I forget to mention that this is the Jagermeister tour - the guy is also doing shots of Jager on the stage). First off, he sticks a hook in his nose, and comes out of the mouth - then he decides to show us how he can stick a pair of scissors up his nose - I mean waaaaaaay up his nose. GROSS! Then a powerdrill - even worse. Finally he annouces the next band - Blood Simple. Apparently from NY - these guys are pretty good. They remind me a bit of Sevendust.

Ooops - forgot to mention. In the meantime it has started raining again - but harder still so now we are soaked to the bone and it is damned cold. Back to concert.....

Lizard man comes out yet again....yay. This time he wants to show us how he can get out of a straight jacket (you guessed it - by throwing his arm out of socket). Then he hangs a tap machine from his ears and lifts it off the ground. Then he shoves a condom up his nose, and out his mouth (at this point he was giving all the drunk guys a speech about safe sex and not to screw fat chicks). He then proceeds to shove it up his nose so he can blow it up. VERY disgusting this guy.

FINALLY - it's time for Disturbed.........This guy seriously sounds like the devil when he talks - SCARY. He makes sure everyone in the mosh pit knows his rules - if someone falls down, you pick them back up; and if a chick is brave enough to crowd surf you DO NOT under any circumstances use the opportunity to feel her up. He has no qualms about bringing people on stage and kicking their asses. How cool is this guy!!!! They absolutely frickin ROCKED!!!!!!! They played for about an hour and a half....all the good songs too. Unfortunately, we were surrounded by idiots who spilled their beer down my back, stepped on my leg, fell over on me whilst dancing, and all in all were just being idiots - so we moved to the back where we couldn't see the stage anymore. The good part was we were under a large tree, so when it started raining, again - we did not get wet.....YAY

All in all, a good time. And damn, that hot shower when we got home was NICE.

If heat rises, then shouldn't hell be cold?

20 Questions

Tag, I'm it! Blue Tige has decided he would like to know more about me, so he's decided to tag me with his 20 Questions meme (not sure if you could really call it that or not, but anyways - here goes:

1. Best memory? So far – I’m not really sure. Probably when I finished my AA FINALLY
2. Most terrible day? For personal reasons this is one I’d rather not elaborate on – I may share at some point.
3. Birth City? Sarasota, FL
4. Favorite thing to do? Reading, Cross-Stitching, Taking Photos, Surfing the Net, Hang Out by the fire up in Gainesville just having a good time.
5. Hollywood Crush? and why? Way too many – Mel Gibson (ooooh those blue eyes), Joaquin Phoenix (my BF says he has a hairlip), Tom Cruise (Top Gun Tom Cruise), Matthew McConaughey, Josh Turner (cause I LOVE his voice) etc.
6. Favorite food? Definitely Mac N Cheese, or Mugs N Jugs boneless buffalo wings.
7. City you want to visit most and why? First date with BF was there (St. Augustine) but now I would probably say DC, just so I can see all the famous landmarks.
8. Fantasy/dream that you want to come true? To make enough money so that I could travel around the world taking pics for National Geo.
9. Favorite sport? To watch – Football (college and NFL). To play – soccer
10. How long have you been married? I’m not – almost did, but thankfully NO.
11. Favorite song and why? I love way too much music to pick one favorite.
12. Someone you most admire? Honestly – my mom, for doing the best she could by herself.
13. Someone you hate and why? There’s a woman at work that might fall into this category – she’s old as sin and thinks she knows everything. Seriously.
14. Secret crush? Hhhhhmmmmmm, I don’t think I’ll tell ;P
15. One (maybe 2) rule/s you live by Try, try, try not to sweat the small stuff. Do unto others as You would have them do unto you
16. Do you believe in God? Yes
17. A dark secret (we won't tell) Good, but I’m still not telling…..
18. Most treasured item and why? Probably my computer. I built it myself and it still works!!!!
19. If you could turn back time, what would you do and why? Wow! I know some people have said they wouldn’t do it cause they’re afraid they wouldn’t be where they are today, but I would erase three things in particular (I would have graduated from HS and used my scholarship to FSU (instead of getting my GED), erase my reason for #2 above, and one more thing I wish not to share….
20. Last but certainly not least, what kind of "work" do you do and do you enjoy it? Right now I work in the Financial Reporting Group at a leading distributor of IT products based in Clearwater, FL; basically I do accounting stuff (bank reconciliations, account analysis, adjusting journal entries, variance analysis – boring stuff but it pays good). I like my job – except at the times between month end’s when it gets a little boring, but hey, I can always post on my blog!

Got this from BF's mom.....funny stuff!!!

Quotes from Accounting Information Systems

So, did you ever wonder why we spend so much money on education in America? Why, it's for these pearls of wisdom from our professors of course! (and I quote....)

"A little razor wire can go a long way towards keeping people out of places."

"I go in the men's room and there's all these people on the phone."

"They just take your clothes off."

and my personal favorite:

"You really have to be careful where you scratch!"

Weekend adventure continued.....

Well, after my escapade taking bro's GF home, I finally got on the road to Gainesville about 8pm. The trip was pretty uneventful until I hit Ocala. I stopped to use the facilities at a rest area, got back on the road, and it started pouring. Yay, fun. I HATE driving in the rain, especially with one headlight, and a highway full of semi's. (I was however, starting to get really tired before that point so the adrenaline woke me up at least). Finally pulled in his driveway about 11pm (all in one piece, thank god).

Didn't do anything to awful exciting - BF made sure to replace the bulb in my headlight before I left, and we watched last night's crappy SuperBowl game. We didn't even get to go to the range on Sunday so I didn't get to kill any paper (boo hoo). Left at 4:15 this morning and made it home at 6:40 (pretty good time considering the last leg was through Tampa). Got to sleep for another hour before I had to go to work, and that was about it.

Next weekend we have tix to see Disturbed, so that should be much more fun.

Thank God I didn't end up being one of these people..... Yes, that is the roof of a car you see sticking up from under all that water. This was the end result of the big storms from Friday.

I had quite an adventure on my way out of town.....As most of you know (if you have been reading) on Friday I was waiting for the weather to chill out a bit before I left for BF's house. Well about 7pm my bro's GF called cause she locked her keys in the car and needed a ride home (we both work at the same place that is 2 miles from my apartment). So nice person that I am, I go pick her up - might as well check out the entrance ramp to the interstate.....So we get there and there is a F'ng LAKE (she took some pics from the camera phone but they didn't come out). They had the cop's out there cause there were several cars stuck in the road and these idiots were still trying to drive through it! Anyway, so we ended up having to go to the next entrance cause the ramp there was flooded.

Well, I have never used this ramp, and you would think I would be paying attention to where I was going instead of running my mouth.....not - we ended up going the wrong way on the ramp and were on our way to Tampa - of course you can't turn around on the bridge so I had to go over the bridge, turn around, and come back (about 15-20 minutes wasted there). The rest of the trip was pretty uneventful, but geez what a pain in the ass!

Safe.....For Now

I made it home - like I said I am right down the street from work (approx. 2 miles). Watching the news, I'm not sure that I'll be leaving anytime soon. Looks to be a few more major storms crossing 75 (which I don't want to drive through) so I think I'll chill here for at least another hour before I try to leave. I'm sure the Interstate is a mess right now anyway.

I used to live near this neighborhood - in all the time we lived there, it NEVER flooded. They say this is the fourth wettest day on record in Tampa!!!

It started raining again a few minutes ago - not hard like it was, so hopefully it will stop soon. I'm going to go pack my bags and see if I can scrounge up something to eat.

Where in the hell is that damn ark????***updated

Some of you may have noticed that my poor weather pixie is drowning today....it has been POURING here all day long, we have been under a tornado watch since 9am this morning that is scheduled to last until 2:45 pm. This happened at one of my favorite stores today - here's a slideshow of pics from the scene. You can see more on this weather phenomenon here.

I'm supposed to be leaving to make the 3hr drive to Gainesville to see BF tonight, and I don't even know if I can make it to the Interstate.......I've been hearing rumors that some roads around me are closed, but have not been able to confirm yet. Will keep you posted.

***Update - apparently the link to the slideshow does not work, but you can see it here - under the caption "Break out the Ark" (I swear they stole that from me......)

Thought for the day.......

If Barbie's so popular......how come you have to buy all her friends???

Taxes SUCK!!!!!

What is it with people? You tell them you're going to school for Accounting, and they automatically assume you're a tax expert. I (stupidly I might add) volunteered to do my mom's taxes for her (Ok I guess it's nice, but it's what stemmed from it that was stupid). That led to doing her BF's taxes, my brother's taxes, and his girlfriends taxes too.....WTF!!! At least bro gave me $10. Anyway so then I've had four or five people at work ask if I would do their's when I mentioned mine were already done (neener neener neener ;P). I should just walk around with a sign on my head that says "I'm an accountant, not a tax professional - leave me the hell alone!"

Thought for the day.......

Some people are like slinkies....not really good for anything, but still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

Teacher Knows Best????

Ok, so I didn't get to see all of American Idol cause I was in class (boo) but what I did see was pretty funny. How bout the chick who was POSITIVE Simon was going to love her the minute she walked in the room? Priceless!

Speaking of class - I'm not quite sure what to think about this one yet. It's Business Stats and the teacher is a little strange. He is always telling us "don't worry about that, you don't need to know it." Then why the hell am I paying to take the class????? He assigns problems out of the book and then tells us to ignore the book, do it his way (argh! I spent $90 on this book buddy). I'm a little nervous about the first test since he says it will only be on the things he discusses in class, but the way he explains it, it seems WAY too easy (I hear that horror movie music in the background - you know, what they play right before the dumb blonde goes outside when she should lock the doors and dial 911?). I guess we'll find out after the first test - until then I will just be extremely nervous.

Alarm Clock Abuse

I wonder how many times you can actually hit the snooze button before the alarm quits going off? Seriously, I must have hit it like a million times this morning before rolling out of bed to ruin my first cup of coffee. I can tell this is going to be a looooooong day.
